introducing - OR return of the velvet scrunchie

* A scrunchie (or scrunchy) is a fabric-covered elastic hair tie, commonly used to fasten long hair. Large, elaborate styles and diminutive, unassuming forms are available. The scrunchie comes in many different varieties of colors, fabrics, sizes, and designs.

Rommy Revson patented the design in the US in 1994.[1]

I was walking through the grocery store this weekend and I couldn’t believe my eyes - there was an entire peg hook filled with brand new luxurious black velvet scrunchies –

and I could not help but think of Seinfeld.  If you would like to view a hilarious bit involving a velvet scrunchie you can view a clip from the episode here :)

Or who can forget how the poor scrunchie caused a fight between Carrie and her boyfriend and was furthermore ridiculed on this SATC episode

** You can be sure if the crowd is making fun of a passé item of clothing it will be back like gangbusters within a few years – like acid wash denim – no one believed it could happen –
