According to Wiki, “Macramé or macrame is a form of textile-making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting.”  DISCLAIMER I don’t know if everything above is technically macramé or not – just that it is out there under the name of macramé.  I bypassed anything that was obviously crochet.  When online sellers get a whiff of a trend suddenly everything is “vintage inspired macrame woven crochet knitted sweater cardigan shawl scarf hippy boho earth tree hugger eco.”  You know what I mean?  So when shopping, traverse the winds of trends with care. 

PS  Check out these macramé hip scarves on eBay, they might be cute over a bikini at the beach this summer.

And another cute way to go is with a bright macramé keychain.  If you always have the largest keychain on the block – these would be great.

outfit of the week–red dress and ballet flats

This classic duo comes via Natalie Wood in the final scene of the movie West Side Story(1961).  It’s sort of a “how to keep a red dress prim” look – which is hard to do if you think about it.  This look isn’t about siren; it’s more about the power and passionate strength (expressed by the color) of innocent love (expressed by the shape).  In the end this young and naïve character is stronger and wiser than all of the rest and ends up their teacher.
